Summary:
As an HSE Field Specialist In-Training you will be given the opportunity to learn skills and given the experience of working in a company that prioritizes and focuses on best-in-class safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations.

In the position you will work closely providing support to the HSE team, on reporting, and monitoring of safety programs, as well as participating in operations field and customer site visits.

The ideal candidate will be a student or new graduate looking to gain experience and acquire skills in developing HSE career. Must be willing to travel frequently for field visits to Certarus operations and client sites. 

Schedule:
  • This is a temporary summer term from April/May to September 2024.
  • This position holds normal business hours and is ready to support 24-hour operations.
  • Frequent multi-day travel within the region will require up to 25-35%. 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participate in conducting regular workplace inspections of Certarus facilities, equipment, and client site operations.
  • Support incident investigations, hazard identifications and field safety audits. 
  • Review hazards submitted through the hazard ID app and provide feedback for each submission.
  • Follow up and advise on matters relating to OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and other regulators.
  • Track and report statistics related to HSE and transportation compliance performance, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in corporate and site level safety meetings.
  • Support adherence to company policies and regulations governing Certarus operations.
  • Work on special projects under the guidance of the Manager and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Completed or pursuing an Occupational Health and Safety Degree/Diploma or Certificate or similar education/training.
  • Understanding of OSHA, DOT and FMCSA regulation will be an asset.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office with an aptitude to learn new computer programs quickly.
  • A valid clean driver’s license and the ability to work extended hours and travel.
  • If you are selected for a role, you will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug, alcohol and fitness testing, as well as background/references
  • This position has the potential of proceeding to a permanent placement at one of our locations that would require relocation.
