Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Project Manager is an important member of the Certarus team and assists future growth strategy. This role has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization’s growth and is ideal for a highly motivated and energetic contributor who is solution-oriented and looking to see their ideas become reality. The successful candidate will demonstrate industry leading time management, execution, collaboration, and operational awareness.

Schedule:
  • This position holds normal working hours and is primarily based out of our Houston, TX corporate office.
  • Travel to shop and field locations in both Canada and the USA will be required on an as-needed basis (25% or more is a good indication). There will also be times where travel might be required on short notice.
  • We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote a proactive and positive safety culture within Certarus and its suppliers.
  • Manage and support the development of a junior project manager who is part of the team, including assigning projects, actively managing workload, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Plan and manage multi-faceted projects at locations across the U.S. and Canada.  Projects will vary in size, scope, budget, and complexity.
  • Effectively apply project management best practices and enforce project standards including engineering, operational, and HSE.
  • Manage projects with the objective of minimizing financial and schedule risk.
  • Develop business strategies and practices by collaborating with the Engineering, Operations, and HSE teams.
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and engineering requirements.
  • Ensure project documentation and drawings are complete, current, and archived during project close-out activities prior to hand-over to the Operations team.
  • Develop scopes of work, estimates, timelines, and technical documents as needed.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources as required to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Report progress on project on a regular basis.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on project management experience or energy industry experience demonstrating management of contractors, vendors, and stakeholders. 
  • A degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical), or other similar qualifications is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills that support the development of the existing team.
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the US; Visa sponsorship will not be considered.
  • Experience with ASME and API standards, DOT regulations, environmental permitting, and regulatory approval process is preferred.
  • Team player with problem solving ability, business acumen, effective time management and organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish long-lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Current driver’s license required.
  • Ability to work well in culturally diverse teams.
